Food Waste
City Harvest London visits us daily to collect all surplus food, which is then safely redistributed to those in need. Their efforts help various organisations serve thousands of healthy meals each week, significantly reducing their grocery bills. This allows these organisations to reinvest funds into other essential support services. By partnering with City Harvest London, we not only help feed the hungry but also prevent food from ending up in landfills, where it would release harmful greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. First launched 10 years ago City Harvest London has now rescued food for almost 58 million meals, preventing over 85,000 tonnes of GHG emissions and is now feeding over 120,000 people a week unable to afford food.
All of our inedible food waste is collected by the New Covent Garden Market Association (NCGMA). This waste is then repurposed for animal food manufacturing, ensuring it serves a useful purpose and contributes to a sustainable food chain.
Through our partnerships with City Harvest London and NCGMA, we ensure that all our food waste is utilised in the most responsible and beneficial ways possible. This commitment not only supports our environmental goals but also helps our community and promotes a sustainable future.
So, in short, none of our food waste is truly wasted!
