Callebaut

Callebaut has been crafting its Chocolate in the heart of Belgium for over 100 years, using only the finest ingredients. This dedication passed down through generations, makes Callebaut chocolate a staple for chefs and chocolatiers worldwide in creating delightful treats.
The distinctive Callebaut taste originates from Belgium’s oldest cocoa roaster, which shares its expertise in cocoa bean flavours, fermentation, blending, whole bean roasting, and conching with chefs globally. In 2014, Callebaut opened its flagship Chocolate Academy™ centre in Wieze, providing a hub for culinary professionals to learn, get inspired, and enhance their chocolate-making skills. The academy features a small plantation, a Beanology-room, a chocolate library, a tasting ritual room, and four fully equipped workspaces for bakers, pastry chefs, confectioners, and restaurant chefs.
Callebaut acknowledges the challenges faced by cocoa farmers in the Ivory Coast and Ghana, including poverty, child labour, and lack of access to clean water and nutrition. Committed to supporting these communities, Callebaut sources 100% sustainable cocoa for its Finest Belgian Chocolate range. A portion of every purchase is reinvested in farmer training and community empowerment through the Cocoa Horizons Foundation.
By collaborating with Cocoa Horizons, Callebaut aims to transform smallholder farms into profitable enterprises and encourage new generations to pursue cocoa farming. The partnership ensures the traceability of sustainable cocoa, focuses on productivity and community development and maintains transparency through third-party verification. This initiative has registered 73,468 Cocoa Horizons farmers, including 11,534 women farmers, and delivered 78,546 MT of Horizons cocoa. Over 71,359 farmers have been trained in good agricultural practices, entrepreneurship, and education, and 10,012 farmer group members have access to productivity packages.
Callebaut’s collaboration with Cocoa Horizons empowers West African farmers, promotes financial independence, and supports sustainable cocoa farming, aiming to make sustainability the norm in the chocolate industry.
