Caffarelli Cucumbers
- Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire

The Caffarelli family has been cultivating “English cucumbers with an Italian flavour” at Floral Farm in Cambridgeshire for four generations and has been exclusively supplying our parent company, S.Thorogood & Sons for many years. While traditional naked cucumbers are the primary variety, Mark Caffarelli enjoys experimenting with unique types, including micro snack cucumbers, large cucalemons and Asian wok cumumbers!
At Floral Farm, the team carefully manages every step of the growing process, working closely with seed manufacturers to share expertise and ensure top-quality crops. Cucumbers are planted, nurtured, and harvested entirely by hand in expansive glasshouses, ensuring attention to detail at every stage.
To maintain optimal growing conditions, Floral Farm uses a cutting-edge Tontec computer system that automatically controls temperature, irrigation, and ventilation, creating the ideal environment for healthy, high-quality produce.
As part of its commitment to sustainable farming, Floral Farm has made significant investments to reduce its carbon footprint. Two advanced biomass systems have been installed to provide eco-friendly energy, and solar panels now cover the roofs of their packhouses, harnessing renewable energy to further minimise environmental impact. Additionally, the farm works closely with Bioline to control pests using biological control.
Floral Farm’s dedication to sustainability extends to sourcing all fuel from within a 50-mile radius, supporting local suppliers and reducing transportation emissions. With these forward-thinking initiatives, Floral Farm continues to lead the way in environmentally responsible and ethical farming practices.
